This Zoning Handbook is a guide to the recently enacted 2016 Zoning Regulations.

Zoning is a technical subject, but it affects everyone. To make the District of Columbia’s zoning law and processes more understandable and accessible we have developed this handbook. The Handbook is intended to help the citizens of Washington, DC understand and participate in the zoning process. Please be advised, however, it is not intended as a substitute for the Zoning Regulations and the Zoning Regulations should be consulted if there are any questions.
